Almost time!

I leave for Vancouver on Thursday morning for my scouting trip with a little bit of fun in the schedule.

Thurs-11AM land

-3pm-first meeting with Don from Finale Edit Works

-dinner with Amanda somewhere close to the hotel

We are staying at the Radisson, down town.

Friday I have 2 appts. 

-11AM with Anne at Studio B Productions

-1PM with Brody at Western Post

(and hopefully I can line one more up in the afternoon)

Amanda who is coming with me has friends that work at the same company as she does but live in Vancouver so we have dinner plans with them friday night...and hopefully a overnight trip to Whistler on sat!!

I think the weather is in the 50's so definitely reasonable!!

Got the ticket!

I just bought my plane ticket to Vancouver for my trip in March!

I have not really done anything else toward the move. For some reason time is flying and I am always busy doing something.

I HAVE to do my taxes next week!

Slacking Already!

Last weekend I decided to be super active. Went hiking, running, biking and golfing all in two days. So needless to say I did not do any research!

I waiting to get paid this week so I can buy my plane ticket to Vancouver for my March trip. Luckily the tickets are not over whelming...$300max. I wonder how much they will be from Vancouver to DC, as that will be a trip I will be taking many times.

Ok..this weekend...the books come out and I need to make some calls. The job is definitely going to be the hardest part.

I do have a contact. And she is a Producer. We have arranged to meet up when I am out there. How do I convince her and her company to sponsor me, someone she hardly knows, so I can move into her Country? I swear I am worth it!!

Study Time!

I bought my first Vancouver book last night at Barnes and Noble! I have a lot of research to do. 

I couldn't imagine moving to LA and not knowing the area. Actually I did move to LA and didn't know the area and ended up in the Valley! Van Nuys, the porn capital of the US to be exact! Ha! Lasted 6months before moving West.  SO to prevent that from happening again...I am going to study.

Just booked our hotel for 3 nights in downtown Vancouver for $48 a person, total for all 3 nights. That seems crazy, but I read all the fine print and it looks legit! The hotel looks pretty descent...put it this way, the hotel bar looks descent, so that helped make the final decision! HA!

I hope a get a good deal on a plane ticket too. That is next. Just have to save some money first.

I plan on doing a bit of research this weekend on Production jobs, etc. (And have to do my taxes so I can get a HUGE refund to pay for this move! yea right...in this economy. I saw on the news the other day, that the state of California plans on handing out I.O.U's for tax returns b/c they have no money. Nice.)

My First Entry:

Thanks to my good friend Amanda, who suggested I start a blog...here is my first entry on my first blog!

I created this to document my move from LA to Vancouver, BC. And if I have a blog then, it is official right!! AND I am definitely going, right?? I think there are some that are still not convinced I can do this. So, this blog is for those and others who might enjoy the trials and tribulations of making big decisions and following through!

Entry 1:

SO I got the dates approved for the time off in March to go up to Vancouver for a 'scouting trip.' Amanda and Beth are coming with me. Beth is driving so we will have a car. (About 6 hours from Portland) So excited to have my girls with me!

I have a new passport. (which one should I use, British or American??)

Amanda has two friends up there and she emailed them both telling them we are coming, so they are going to take us out one night and show us the city. (Future friends I hope)

I have one Producer contact, I plan on meeting in Whistler where she is currently Producing a TV series. (Future friend I hope)

I also emailed a friend of mine who is a headhunter for the financial industry thinking she might know a company that specializes in that up there for the Entertainment industry. She sent back a full page of information and people to contact that might be able to assist me. They mostly use headhunters for Executive level positions. But I plan on researching.

I got my W2 from MOE already so plan on doing my taxes in the next two weeks, just have to save up for my Accountants fee. My tax return (I hope to get) will go in the special BC fund. My plan is to move without using a CC...ha!

My roommate just told me last night that he is probably going to move in with his girlfriend (she is moving here from NY) in the Spring. I am going to suggest that she move in with us and we all split the rent 3 ways and save money for a few months. This way I can get my shit together. They can stay there when I move or find their own place. We will see what happens with that conversation.

Can I really pull this off?
